Coastal Pediatric Orthopedics

About Us

We don’t just treat young patients - we treat young families.

With little ones of our own, we know the challenges that come along with an unexpected injury. We always make ourselves available to families when they need us. And we ensure Dr. Plakas is accessible to our patients and their loved ones, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Coastal Pediatric Orthopedics provides flexible office hours, hospital emergency care, phone and email consults, and even house calls when the need arises.

Christos Plakas, MD

Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Plakas, a board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon, founded Coastal Pediatric Orthopedics in 2017 to practice medicine in a different way. In a day and age where everyone is connected with just a few clicks, he felt that accessibility to your doctor should be no different – no call services, no long wait times, and clear, open communication.

Our actively growing practice treats over 1,000 pediatric patients a year. Even with a large number of patients, Dr. Plakas prides himself on giving every family personal attention and responsiveness when they need it most.

Dr. Plakas attended Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ and went on to complete an additional one-year orthopedic fellowship specializing in pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Plakas is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, as well as the New Jersey Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics.
